Adolescent Psychiatry

Uyen Nguyen, DNP, PMHNP-BC

I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and am board-certified to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and prescribe for child and adolescent populations. I received my Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Maryville University. I have 10 years of hospital experience in acute care, 4 years of which was dedicated to caring for children on the inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric unit at Mercy Hospital. I enjoy celebrating each person’s individuality. Getting help takes a lot of courage, and my goal is to be a helper during tough times. I believe in utilizing evidence-based practices and up-to- date clinical research to help folks feel more informed and confident when it comes to problem- solving and navigating life’s hurdles and curveballs. During sessions, I enjoy having a collaborative approach (“it takes a village!”) when it comes to tailoring care that will empower kids and families to get set up for success.

I have a relaxed approach to communication and work to keep it real. I never want anyone to feel like they can’t ask a question and feel overwhelmed by too much information at once. I love to share knowledge and I enjoy explaining things in ways that are age-appropriate and easy to understand. I look forward to working with your child!
