I believe everyone can achieve the awareness and ability to accept one’s authentic self – flaws and all. Through a trauma informed lens, I recognize that life events, transitions, and suffering can break our spirits…but we are not broken. No matter what a person endures and survives, making meaning of the suffering and processing grief is necessary for growth. I design a safe space for clients to explore how being vulnerable can free them of the pain that misplaced shame and guilt have caused in their lives. Learning skills to help recognize unhelpful thought patterns and reactions helps people improve how they view themselves and how they can successfully interact with the world around them. The therapeutic process is individualized, and my orientation is strength based and person- centered as I believe the client is the expert on themselves. I am here as a guide on the journey of self-discovery and growth. As someone who knows from personal experience what it feels like to be stuck and in my way, I have learned how to guide others in realizing all the possibilities for their life through the transformational elements of individual and couples therapy. I understand the process of change is difficult and habits are hard to break because change is uncomfortable. I am passionate about helping clients find the power of sitting with the uncertainty of change and surrender through talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), and existential exploration while building on the client’s own goals. I embrace inclusion and diversity in my practice in all its beautiful forms. I work with adolescent and adult clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, perfectionism, over- control, life transitions, phobias, substance use, and eating disorders.
